Eclectic Interiors is situated in a beautifully restored stone farm building in The Art and Craft Yard of The Discovery Park in Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny.
It is run by Selina Gittins, who restores, paints and renovates antique country furniture. Finished pieces are displayed with smaller vintage curios, alongside contemporary pendant lightshades, in an eclectic mix of contemporary country syle.
We now have the where-with-all for you to have a look at what is in the shop without having to actually drive out to Castlecomer. We try and keep a selection of different pieces, all of which you can see in the different categories on the right. Apart from the lightshades, which we keep in stock, pretty much everything else is a one-off antique or vintage piece. Have a browse through the “sold” section to get a feel for the kind of pieces we choose.
We also provide a service painting/customising clients furniture; so if you have an old inherited piece that could be up-dated or something that you like the shape of but not the finish - too dark or too “pine” or damaged in some way- then it could be given a new lease of life with some of the paint colours used in the shop. Please phone or e-mail for a rough idea of cost.
Shop opening hours:- Mon and Tues, closed. Wed, Thurs and Fri, 10am to 4pm. Sat, 10am to 5.30pm. Sunday, 2pm to 5.30pm.

- Each letter is about 1o and a half ” high, laser-cut out of 2mm steel.
- I also have painted wooden letters, about 8mm thick, LOVE and WORK. e65

- This was painted with your classic chocolate brown, impossible-to-get-off paint, so it was a labour of love to hand strip it!

- This is a lovely, unusual bed with a mother-of-pearl detail on the bed-head.
- It’s 4′ wide and 6′3” long.
- I include a slatted pine base for the mattress to sit on. Odd sized mattresses can be bought from Greenwood furniture in Kilkenny.

- This is not an old light but I really like the design and the way the brass has been aged. I also have another similar model in the shop which can be angled, to suit a desk.

- This is two separate pieces that I thought worked well together as a childs bedroom or playroom storage cupboard, hence the juicy green inside!
- The base is a real piece of peasant furniture, probably home-made, out of elm, with beautiful bird carving around the top. My neighbour in the yard, Tia, says she has seen similar pieces in India . I have no idea where this is from or how old it is, but I think it is a bit special!
- The top is a pine cupboard to which I added shelves.

- This is a piece about which there has been much discussion! We suspect it has had a few different manifestations; the dovetail joints on the top surface suggest it has a bit of age about it. It’s a kitchen or pantry piece, workman-like, possibly used to store preserves, although the hinged top suggests air circulation, so maybe bread or cheese.
- It has 3 wide , moveable pine shelves inside, so it could make a lovely linen cupboard

- I chose a smart ticking stripe for these chairs and painted them pale grey - they look quite Scandinavian…..

- A sweet little table made of solid elm.
- I painted a repeated flower motif on the top in silver and rubbed it down a bit so it looks kind of faded.

- This is not the exact chair I have in the shop; the pattern of inlaid mother of pearl is different, but the structure is exactly the same. Looks amazing in a hall or bathroom.

- In beautiful condition. It’s big, but not too big and wide enough for a man’s suit. A lot of old wardobes weren’t designed for men with modern-sized shoulders, but this one is.
- 4′ 11″ wide, 7′4″ high, 2′1″ deep

I took out the old hooks, fitted a new hanging rail and painted it pale cream to lighten and freshen it up. I added the hand painted bird as a surprise!

- I always try and have a selection of smaller, interesting vintage bits and bobs which make great presents; glass, old tools, cutlery, silver, compasses, teasets, china serving dishes, magnifying glasses…….
- Because everything is different I can’t photograph it all, but maybe I’ll do written descriptions of new things….

- 38 and 3/4″ wide, 5′ long without the leaf, 7′ with the leaf.
